Katja Kassin has long been one of the most popular porn stars on Barelist and seems to get more and more popular with each passing year. | What was your first job?
I worked at an ice cream parlor when I was in high school.
How and when did you get into the adult industry?
In the year 2000 I answered an ad in the local paper in Germany to be an amateur nude model. From there I slowly progressed into video work and then adult films.
How did you come up with your stage name?
The first photographer I shot with suggested "Katja", it's a common given name in Germany and later on I came up with a matching last name. I incorporated the word "ass" in "Kassin".
How do your friends and family feel about your decision to be an adult model?
It is interesting to me that this question always comes up as if working in adult is such a terrible, traumatic thing to cope with. I'm from Europe and people over there get a lot less worked up over it. My family supports me in everything I do and so are my friends.
What does it take to make it in a tough industry like the adult business?
People always think that it's all about the physical attributes or the sex acts you perform to become successful in the adult industry but I beg to differ. In porn, as in any other field, success comes to those who are punctual, reliable, professional and disciplined.
What important lessons have you learned so far?
I have learned that I can do much more than I ever thought was possible and that I can be or become what I choose. There are no limits if you really want something.
Is there anybody special in your life? Or are you looking for somebody at the moment?
There is someone special but I don't like to discuss my personal life.
If you had not joined the adult industry, what do you think you would be doing now?
I think I would have finished my degree in Germany and be probably working in an office.
Do you get recognized in real life? Any funny stories?
It happens and it makes me feel uncomfortable. I mostly just try to talk myself out of it. I don't like to have a conversation about anal sex in the dairy aisle.
Do you prefer video or photo shoots?
I love to get my pictures takes but I also like the acting in videos. Both aspects are part of the job and I don't think I prefer one over the other.
Where is the most exotic location you have shot at?
Most shoots are taking place locally in the L.A. area. That's probably exotic enough for most people who don't live here in Southern California.
What are your favorite and least favorite parts of your body?
I like my body the way it is but I think the substance of a person does not lie so much in physical traits and sexiness does not come from appearance. The most attractive thing is often a smile, a kind word at the right time or the little things you can do to make others happy.

I run track and I swim.
Where did you go on your last vacation (not work related)?
I went to Germany to visit my family.

Yes, I have a little dog, a small rat terrier called Peru. I never considered getting a dog but he needed a home so I took him in. I have to say that having a dog has become one of the most rewarding parts of life for me.
What is the last book you read?
Besides text books for school, "The Narcissism Epidemic: Living in the Age of Entitlement".

What is your dream car?
I drive a Honda Civic. Cars have to be efficient and low in maintenance. Cars are every day use items in my mind, other than that I'm not that into them.

Mimosa or White Zinfandel
What are your favorite brands of jeans?
Jeans have to be tight and that's about it. I don't care about brands. I'm a bargain hunter.

Do you have a hobby that would surprise most people?
I sing karaoke. I love to learn languages (I speak 4), I am interested in a healthy lifestyle and mostly eat vegan.
What is something about you that not too many people know?
For the past three years I've been going to school working on my BA in psychology. I only have few units left now and I'm preparing my application for grad school at the moment. Eventually I want to become a licensed psychologist.
Do you have any special talents?
I am a good housekeeper.
What's your ordinary day like? A day in the life of Katja Kassin...
If it's a school day, I get up early, go to class and after class I usually go to the gym. My weekends are spent doing homework, studying for exams or writing papers. Other than that I hang out with my dog, read the news or shoot some porn.
